Oregon Coast and More

Plein-air is even more new to me than painting itself.  I've always found landscapes to be so overwhelming, but when it comes down to it, it's no different from painting a person.  Once I began to see things as shapes of color and value and not as rocks or lips, my idea of painting started to change quite a bit, and these recent paintings are a result of that change.

Most of these are from various beaches along Oregon's northern coasts, all 8x10 in oil.

Figures and Portaits

I wanted to start off by showing some of my figure work which I paint every Monday night at an open studio ran by my amazingly talented, former instructor(though I still consider her one) Za Vue.  These pieces I chose were painted at different time's, some a few months ago, some longer, some within the last few weeks.  Even though I may not be completely fond of all these pieces in their totality, they all have something different that appeals to me.  Some I like for the color, the drawing, or just because they're different and fresh.

Greetings

Hello friends, family, colleagues and stalkers(you know who you are), welcome to my new blog.  It was only a few years ago that I picked up my first paintbrush and started what would later become one of my great passions and dare I say, obsessions in life, painting.  This blog will follow my journey as a young painter, and hopefully as an old one too.  I'm very excited to share with you something that I truly love to do.  Enjoy!

p.s. Go paint!
